You suck!

Last week, the tabloids came calling for Jamie's first public photo shoot. I knew I would have to share him with the world sooner or later, but just couldn't decide between the cover of People - where he would have to compete with that other buxom blonde's baby boy - or a glossy spread in OK!. In the end, though, I decided that his wrinkly forehead and Sheridan nose were best shared on my world-famous blog. ;)

Although he was not going to be among the ranks of P. Diddy's twins or Lance Bass's birth as a gay man, on Friday, Jamie did flash his baby blues for his first non-mommy photo shoot.

Shalimar Beekman, a local photographer and mom, came by the house with fuzzy rugs and heating pad in hand to capture Jamie's newborn nakedness. He was a natural from the start, giving the camera his best Zoolander look.

Midway through the shoot, after the model started displaying model behavior by crying when he was unhappy with the angle he was being shot at and demanding food almost constantly, Shalimar asked if he had a pacifier. Being the super-baby he is, we were determined to have a baby who could pacify himself and had resisted the temptation.

Just after the shoot, however, when his mama finally tired of being treated like a human pacifier for nearly three weeks, we broke down and popped the "soother" into his eagerly awaiting mouth. Now I know why they call it a soother. The rhythmic "suck, suck, suck" I heard then...and am enjoying -without him attached to me (!) as I type this... is truly one of the most soothing sounds in the world. :)
